Recent Rides

I've been busy lately with a lot of riding so I haven't been crafting much.  Recently, I got a new horse and we've really been hitting the trails, as you can see.

Weekend Getaway

I haven't been on a vacation in a while, so when I got the offer to spend Labor Day weekend camping and riding with the girls, I jumped on it!  We stayed at Piney Creek Horse Camp at Davy Crockett National Forest in Kennard, TX, and we rode the trails at Piney Creek and the White Rock Horse Camp.   It was HOT, but we had lots of fun.   They have primitive campgrounds and we slept in tents and made do with what we had.  Liz's horse got loose every night and even ate 10# of dog food one night.  The dogs had to eat PB sandwiches after that!  We all had fun though, and I'm looking forward to the next time.

Dog Swap

The SCAL-MTC Hints Yahoo Group is having a dog page swap.  The pages are 6x6 and I made mine double sided.  Can't wait to see what everyone else does!  The doggie cutting file is free at That's Scrap Inc.  It's from ScrapbookCircus and you can download it at :  http://thatsscrapinc.com/scrapbookcircus-charlene.aspx

Let them eat cake!

Besides cardmaking and scrapbooking, I also dabble in cake decorating on occasion. The occasion this time was my son's wedding. He was married to a darling girl yesterday. They asked me to do the wedding cake and groom's cake. This was my first attempt at gumpaste and I must say I like it a lot. The wedding cake was strawberry on the bottom layer with strawberry filling. The second layer was white almond with apricot filling, as was the top layer.  Originally, there was supposed to be another layer of chocolate with raspberry filling as the base to these three layers, but after putting it together, it was SO heavy that we couldn't really lift it all to move it!  That layer stayed in the kitchen and was served later during the night.  The groom's was a chocolate fudge cake with strawberry filling and chocolate buttercream frosting, then covered with a dark chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate dipped strawberries. Everyone seemed to enjoy them both and the bride and groom were quite pleased!

MAGNOLIA-licious Recipe Swap

This is my first recipe swap and I signed up for two slots. These are samples of my cards.  They've been put in the mail and I can't wait to see what I get back!  I used two Magnolia stamps from the "A Little Yummy for Your Tummy" collection.

Today I'm posting a couple of cards I made for the Victorine Originals #2 challenge.  I used their large Santa stamp for these and paper from My Mind's Eye Holiday Glitter Book.
